Who we are
Curiosity Grove Academy is a small, relationship-driven, secular microschool rooted in curiosity, connection, and meaningful learning. We were created for families seeking a thoughtful alternative to traditional schooling—one that honors children as individuals while also providing strong, intentional instruction in reading, writing, and math.
Learning at Curiosity Grove is personalized, hands-on, and responsive. Students learn in small groups through projects, exploration, conversation, and reflection, allowing them to build academic skills, think deeply, create boldly, and grow with confidence.
Curiosity Grove Academy grew out of a deep belief that children learn best when they are known, supported, and challenged in meaningful ways. After years in traditional classrooms, I saw too many students who were capable, curious, and creative struggle in environments that weren’t built for how they actually learn.
I created Curiosity Grove to be a small, intentional learning community where strong academics, creativity, and relationships all matter. A place where children are taught explicitly, supported individually, and given space to grow — not rushed through a system or reduced to a number.
As both an educator and a parent, I wanted a school that honors curiosity, builds confidence, and helps children thrive — academically and as humans. Curiosity Grove is a place where children are seen, supported, and challenged — and where learning is built with care, intention, and joy.

Vision
Our vision is to be a community classroom where children grow into curious, confident learners who feel empowered to contribute thoughtfully to their families and communities. We believe education should nurture a love of learning, a sense of belonging, and the skills needed to engage meaningfully with the world.
Our Story
How Learning Works at Curiosity Grove
At Curiosity Grove Academy, learning is grounded in strong academics, meaningful relationships, and play-based exploration. We are a secular microschool that prioritizes literacy and math while also honoring curiosity, creativity, and child development.
Students receive explicit instruction in reading, writing, and math through small-group lessons tailored to their individual needs. Daily routines and clear learning systems help students move through instruction, practice, and application with growing independence. This ensures a solid academic foundation while allowing instruction to be responsive, supportive, and appropriately paced.
Alongside core academics, we use play-based and hands-on learning to deepen understanding. Through projects, guided play, exploration, discussion, and reflection, students practice skills, apply what they’ve learned, and build confidence in authentic ways. Play is intentional and purposeful — a way children explore ideas, collaborate, problem-solve, and grow.
Rather than following a single boxed curriculum, Curiosity Grove uses carefully selected programs and teacher-designed lessons to meet students where they are. This allows flexibility, differentiation, and responsiveness, while still maintaining clear academic goals and structure.
Curiosity Grove is designed for families seeking a thoughtful alternative to traditional schooling — one that blends strong academics, play-based learning, and whole-child growth in a small, supportive environment.
